Our titles by John Viner

John Viner trained at Christ Church College of Education (now Canterbury Christ Church University)in the 1970s where his interest in education history began. His first primary post happened to be in a Church of England school and he found that he liked the distinctive Christian character and wenton to spend most of his 35 years of teaching in Anglican schools. In 1981 John took on his first headship and over the next 28 years he went on to lead five schools, including a highly successful Medway Church of England junior school with Training School Status. His final headship was of a large coastal community School, which he led from Special Measures through two successful Ofsted inspections. John has inspected Anglican schools since 1996 and has been an Ofsted inspector since 1997. He also inspects for four Anglican dioceses, works in teacher education and supports schools in a variety of ways. He is also active as the chair of Kent Sacre. John has written extensively for a local history journal and, over his career, has had a number of articles published in the education press, including Optimus Education newsletters Raising Achievement Update and
