Outstanding Parental Engagement

Effectively reach and engage parents to boost student attainment and school improvement in light of the new Ofsted framework

Key Speaker Announcement

We are delighted to welcome Maria Dawes HMI, Principle Officer for Parental Engagement, Ofsted, who will outline exactly what inspectors will be looking for under the new inspection framework and how best to evidence your parental engagement strategies.

Don't miss this opportunity to question the leading Parental Engagement figure for Ofsted!

Why is this conference relevant?

The new Ofsted inspection framework demonstrates greater focus on how well schools and Academies are effectively working with parents. In addition, the recent launch of their new Parent View website allows parents to voice opinions on your school online and even lead to triggering an inspection. Alongside this, Michael Gove’s mantra of “school choice” is giving power back to parents with an increase in school-to-school competition.

Are you effectively engaging and working in partnership with parents? Are you effectively evidencing this to Ofsted? Are you aware of what increased parental choice will mean for your school?

What can I expect?

Optimus Education’s 7th annual Outstanding Parental Engagement conference is the definitive event for Senior Leaders and Managers in schools and Academies.

Parental involvement is vital for improving students’ attainment in schools. However, most schools find it exceptionally difficult to engage some parents, particularly the hard-to-reach.  It’s easy to forget that learning does not stop beyond the school gates but many parents simply feel out of their depth when it comes to engaging in their child’s curriculum.

By attending, take away practical strategies and best practice to effectively reach and engage all parents, even the hard to reach, and evidence your Outstanding strategies effectively under the new Ofsted inspection framework.

Dr. Janet Goodall, Research Fellow at the Institute of Education, University of Warwick will outline the latest effective interventions for improving parental engagement. Janet is a leader in this field and will highlight how important it is to effectively involve parents in their child’s curriculum.

Dr. Anthony Feiler from the University of Bristol and author of ‘Engaging ‘hard to reach’ parents: teacher parent collaboration to promote children’s learning’ will demonstrate effective practical strategies to cross cultural and class barriers and engage all parents drawing from his research from UK wide school projects.
