League tables will reveal progress of more able pupils
The latest secondary school league tables, planned for release on Thursday, will highlight the progress of more able pupils.
For the first time, they will show how well pupils entering secondary school at Level 5 in maths and/or English do at GCSE. They will also demonstrate how well schools improve attainment for disadvantaged pupils.
Schools minister Nick Gibb has claimed that the changes will remove 'incentives' for schools to focus on those on the C/D borderline.
