The Better Communication Research Programme (BCRP) was commissioned as part of the Better Communication Action Plan, the government’s response to the Bercow review of services for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs. This recently published report forms part of a programme of research that aims to extend an understanding of the needs and support provided for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and emphasises the need for early intervention to ensure that children’s needs are met.
