The training packs are designed to help address the areas of weakness identified in the subject-specific report History for All, published by Ofsted last March.

History for All found that although history teaching was 'good' or better in most of the schools visited, there were weaknesses in pupils' chronological understanding at primary level, in part caused by non-specialist teachers' lack of expertise in the subject and a lack of quality CPD in the schools visited. There were also problems identified at Key Stage 3 in some secondary schools.
