Role and responsibilities of the governing body

The governing body sets the strategic framework for the school and works closely with the headteacher in seeing that it is implemented. Governors act as ‘critical friends’, asking questions to challenge the headteacher’s leadership and build their knowledge of the school. They offer support and guidance but are not closely involved in the day-to-day running of the school.
