More Thinking Through Geography is another resource for geography teachers at secondary level to create lessons led by geography thinking skills. This geography resource provides more thinking skills activities to help teachers integrate transferable learning skills into their teaching of geography.

‘Have you ever wondered how to make your lessons even more interesting, exciting and create that “buzz” factor? More Thinking Through Geography advises on ways of doing just that, in addition to raising student performance and meeting government targets on both thinking and key skills.’

Geographical Association

‘The influence these strategies have had on other publications is already noticeable and with this award the GA recognises the significant contribution thinking skills in geography is making to teaching and learning in schools.’

Geographical Association

‘disarmingly simple ... superb geography lessons ... blends research-based rationale with classroom practicalities ... honest and thoughtful accounts of exemplar lessons ... a joy to read ... no geography department can afford to miss out on what this book offers.’

Liz Taylor, TES

‘More Thinking Through Geography is a very good sequel to its impressive predecessor and will stimulate further advances in the teaching and learning of geography in many secondary schools.’

Graham Butt, University of Birmingham

Summary of contents

From the same stable as Thinking Through Geography, this title, like its predecessor, maintains a direct focus on students’ learning and promotes teaching thinking. More Thinking Through
Geography
contains eight strategies to enable teachers to further diversify their catalogue of teaching approaches and endorses the importance of teachers engaging in their own professional development to learn why these approaches encourage thinking.

The book has 12 clearly structured chapters, four of which give advice on how to integrate the strategies within the curriculum, use the strategies as part of an assessment scheme, integrate thinking skills into department development plans and explain how to develop effective debriefing skills. Consideration has also been given to adapting methods to suit different ability and age groups.
