Summary of contents

This clear and practical book introduces 11 key thinking skills, explains their importance and gives you a range of games and activities to promote creative and critical thinking abilities in your pupils. Guidance and tips of creating a thinking skills classroom environment are also provided.

The games and activities can be used in a number of ways to meet the different needs of your class. There are opportunities for pair work, group work and differentiation, plus metacognition questions during the plenary sessions. The book covers Foundation Stage 2 to Year 6.
 
The lesson plans are easy to follow and many include ready-to-use resources. The activities can be made available to supply teachers and teaching assistants during planning preparation and assessment time, teacher absence and so forth.
 
When the activities have become familiar, the ideas can be adapted to better meet the individual needs and requirements of a particular class. The resources are also stored electronically so that you can quickly and easily modify them to meet your pupils’ specific learning needs.
