John Rees

John is passionately committed to improving the achievement and life chances of children and young people, through the professional development of individuals and organisations. Having been a secondary school senior leader, John lead the transformation of a 2-school research project into a nationwide, multi-agency programme, with unique evidence of health benefit and educational improvement. An independent consultant since 2006, John works with primary, secondary and special schools to improve leadership; teaching and learning; behaviour management; governance and parental engagement, across the UK and overseas. John is also an advisor on the Optimus Wellbeing Award for Schools and loves watching Welsh rugby and driving his MX-5 – not simultaneously! 

Key highlights
  • Coaching middle leaders to improve departmental effectiveness and improve outcomes for learners of all ages 
  • Mentoring trainee teachers through a ‘virtual SCITT’ to enable them to flourish in the classroom and within the profession
  • Lead on the development of two national Quality Marks, one for PSHE, the other for SMSC, to improve provision and outcomes for pupils of all ages
  • Provides training and support for staff and parents to ensure outstanding PSHE (including Relationship and Sex Education) and SMSC, to improve outcomes for all members of the school community
